Fenghuang County honored for cultural industry empowering rural revitalization

Recently, 63 pilot places for cultural industry empowering rural revitalization were identified, including Fenghuang County in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

Fenghuang County is a leading and key tourism county in Xiangxi Prefecture. In recent years, the county has deeply explored cultural resources, and adhered to the integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism. A batch of agricultural comprehensive sightseeing parks and agricultural tourism integration bases that integrate research and development, production, leisure and tourism were built. And a path of rural revitalization and characteristic cultural tourism was explored. Based on the characteristic rural resources and ecological environment, and combined with the Miao culture, the county has further improved tourism facilities and created 40 villages for agricultural tourism integration. New formats like cultural experience tour, rural homestay inn tour and Red study tour have been developed, gathering tourists, products, funds and information in rural areas to form an all-for-one tourism development pattern and contribute to rural revitalization. Such agricultural tourism integration bases as a Miao silver jewelry forging skills production and protection base in Debang Village, a batik workshop and an intangible heritage food workshop in Zhushan Village have been built.

A number of agricultural comprehensive sightseeing parks integrating research and development, production, leisure and sightseeing have been completed, such as Changputang Fruit Industrial Park - Feishui Valley Scenic Spot and Huatianxi in Luochaojing Town.

It has created a group of distinctive rural tourist attractions such as Changtan’gang leisure resort, Laojia Village and Zhushan Village, and built four characteristic tourist areas with high quality, like Shanjiang Miao Tourism Resort and Changtan’gang Water Town Tourism Resort.

Changputang, Dapo and Zhushan villages were selected as national observation places for poverty alleviation. Changputang Village became the national model for targeted poverty reduction. “Zhushan tourism poverty alleviation model” became the national industry poverty alleviation model. China Giant Panda Garden was awarded the national 4A tourist attraction.
